Kelly J. Blessing is a born and raised Hoosier with a passion for God and a passion for people. She graduated cum laude from Franklin College in Franklin, Indiana, majoring in Political Science with a minor in Leadership. Prior to college, Ms. Blessing moved to Texas to take part in a year long internship with the Honor Academy. This proved to be one of the most challenging and insightful times in her life, leaving her with a greater sense of the woman she wanted to become and the calling on her life. It was at the Honor Academy that she realized she wanted to make a difference in the area of law and embarked on that path.
Ms. Blessing attended law school at Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she took part in the Mediation Clinic and interned for the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia. She was also a law clerk for the American Center for Law and Justice and assisted the center with the Supreme Court Case of Pleasant Grove City v. Summum, which was decided unanimously in their favor in 2009.
Since law school, Ms. Blessing’s education has continued. She was trained in general mediation and family mediation by the Virginia Conflict Resolution Center. Ms. Blessing desires more than anything to be a peacemaker in this adversarial system, providing an amicable alternative in the midst of an incredibly difficult situation. She has further continued her studies in the area of Real Estate and has a real estate team through Broadsight Realty in Virginia Beach, which is separate from her law practice. Navigating issues through the real estate world as a real estate agent, has enlightened her immensely in preparing her clients for all sorts of scenarios in drafting and advising of separation agreements where a transfer of interest or sale of real estate is needed.
When she is not practicing law or assisting in real estate transactions, you’ll most likely find her on the golf course in honor of her late father, or in the waves on her surfboard- one of her happiest of places to be.
